MPC’s Metalphoto Labels and Tags are our most durable and popular solution for labels and tags, with graphics sealed beneath a sapphire-hard anodic layer, creating an impenetrable surface. Our Metalphoto labels and tags sustain an expected exterior life of 20+ years even under extreme conditions including heat, humidity, long-term exposure to weather, UV and other outdoor conditions, salt spray, abrasion, industrial solvents, chemicals and more.
Metalphoto’s exceptional durability makes it a preferred material for many military standards and aerospace applications. Additionally, the National Association of Graphic and Product Identification Manufacturers (GPI) Industry Standards and Practices Manual identifies Metalphoto photosensitive anodized aluminum as the most durable printed aluminum substrate available, citing its applicability for extreme environmental conditions and outdoor exposure.
Developed by our parent company Horizons Inc. in 1950, Metalphoto® is manufactured and imaged using a unique photographic imaging technology, creating a photo quality image that is immune to the fading and decay of other printing and marking methods.
Identified by The National Association of Graphic and Product Identification Manufacturers (GPI) as the most durable printed aluminum substrate available, Metalphoto achieves optimal durability by sealing the label image inside the anodic layer of aluminum.

Designed for ultimate durability, our Rigid Metalphoto® aluminum asset tags are used in almost every industrial application across the globe to track assets and locations in a number of applications — where the elements or corrosive materials could damage less-durable alternatives.
Quality is excellent, lead times are reasonable and pricing is competitive. Metalphoto of Cincinnati is outstanding at supplying our metal nameplates and labels, as well as addressing our needs and expectations as good as, if not better than, any of the other suppliers. MPC works well with helping us meet the demands of our customers.
I have been buying products from Metalphoto of Cincinnati for more than 12 years now, never had any problem, very good products, high quality, and good communication.
Metalphoto equipment labels and tags have an expected exterior life of 20+ years, even under extreme conditions. The graphics are sealed beneath a sapphire-hard anodic layer, making them highly resistant to heat, humidity, UV exposure, salt spray, abrasion, industrial solvents, and chemicals.
This exceptional durability is why Metalphoto is a preferred material for military standards and aerospace applications, and why the National Association of Graphic and Product Identification Manufacturers (GPI) identifies it as the most durable printed aluminum substrate available.
The primary difference is thickness.
Foil Metalphoto equipment labels are available in thinner gauges (.003″, .005″, and .008″) and are ideal for curved surfaces or applications requiring flexibility.
Rigid Metalphoto equipment labels come in thicker options (.012″ to .125″) and are better suited for flat surfaces, harsh environments, or applications requiring mechanical attachment, making them a popular choice for metal labels for equipment across industries like aerospace, defense, and heavy manufacturing.
Both types offer the same exceptional durability and image quality.
Metalphoto equipment labels are available in black graphics on a silver background or silver graphics on a black background, with additional color options available. However, colors other than black have limited UV resistance, so black is recommended for outdoor applications.
Finish options include Matte (non-reflective), Satin (semi-reflective), #4 Brushed (resembles stainless steel, available at .032″ and above), and Gloss (highly reflective, available in .020″ only).
Metalphoto equipment labels can be attached using permanent pressure-sensitive adhesive, mechanical fasteners through drilled holes, or a combination of both methods.
There is no minimum piece requirement. MPC’s minimum production run is $400 per part number (excluding set-up fees/tooling), making it practical for both small and large orders.
Standard lead time is 15 working days from order receipt and artwork approval.
